The never-ending tournament, Nordic 1000, came to be because a few friends were sitting around at the Tent Camp in Aarnimetsä AS XX, discussing how unfair it was that they had friends who missed such a great event.
And then it hit them that they could have a tournament that would bring the people of the lands together in friendly, tough, and honourable combat. A tournament that would not only be won by your skill on the day, but also your crazy dedication to travel and participate over time in the lands.
They invented a tournament with 1000 victories and declared that it should only be fought four times a year, with each tournament having a maximum of 50 points, so that the tournament would last at least five years.
While they contest for points and fight to our very limits each time we gather. Let’s not forget that the cause of this tournament is about friendship.
For many years brave warriors fought in the Nordic 1000, and in the end Sir Grimr Hvitulfsson Ulfhamr reached the 1000 points. The tournamnet rested for a couple of years until Earl Wlfric started to plan for a reboot, and here we are today. This is the second incarnation of Nordic 1000, and we still go to the list for honorable combat, friendship and points.

Rules for Nordic 1000
6.1
A minimum of three fighters must be present in order for the tourney to be legal. A tourney will end if the number drops below 3. In that case each fighter ends the tournament with the score they achieved so far.
6.2
The tournament is fought as a bear pit. (A line of fighters waiting for one or more list slots. The winner stays and the loser goes to the back of the line).
6.3
If 10 or more fighters are present, more than one list is used. For ten new fighters a new list is created (3-9 fighters = 1 list, 10-19 fighters=2 lists, 20-29 fighters= 3 lists, etc.).
6.4
If the number of fighters drops during the tournament so that the number of present lists cannot be supported, lists will be removed until the number of fighters correspond with the number of lists. If new fighters arrive during the tournament, the number of lists is increased in the same way.
6.5
Adjusting the number of lists should only be done if the number of fighters in general drops or increases. Fighters may still take short breaks, drink water etc. without adjusting the number of lists.
6.6
When a tournament starts, the line is filled in reversed score order, meaning that the fighter with the least points starts in the list(s), and the present fighter with the highest score is the last in line.
6.7
All wounds are retained as long as you remain in the list. Once defeated and returned to the line all wounds are healed.
6.8
For each defeated fighter you receive one point.
6.9
In case of a double elimination, neither fighter gets any points and both of them go to the end of the line.
6.10
A tournament ends when a fighter gets 50 points. At that point the tournament ends immediately, and no points are received in the other ongoing fights.
6.11
A tournament may be paused if the conditions prevents it from be continued in a safe manner (lack of light, bad weather etc.). The tournament can continue later on during the same event, even on another day.
6.12
If a tournament ends before someone reach 50 points, whoever have the most points is declared the winner of that individual tournament.
6.13
A fighter ending a tournament before someone wins keeps the score gathered in the tourney.
